Lock N Load Java Double Tap

Lucky day #13 of  the National Preparedness Month of giveaways and it’s sure to perk you up. Today I have a 12oz package of Lock N Load Java’s Double Tap special reserve.  The Double Tap is medium roast coffee grown in the premier highland coffee growing regions. Lock N Load Java was founded in 2010 by veteran  LTC(R) Carl Churchill. Carl served in the Army for 21 years as both an enlisted man and an Officer. He describes the mission of Lock N Load Java as such:

They have the fun part down done cold. I love the logo of the company. It reminds me of of my favorite tattoo, wish I had thought of a lightning bolt. All the write up’s, names and packaging are fun. I can really see the companies humor hit the bulls eye for me.

They support seven Military Charities,  Our Military Kids,  The Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund,  The Special Operations Warrior Foundation,  The National Military Family Association,  The Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund, TAPS, Homes for Our Troops. I have one more thing to add before we move on to the review and how you can win some coffee. I appreciate Carl and the whole team at Lock N Load. I found out about them from ITS tactical and are one of the bigger companies I approached for prizes for this giveaway. One of the companies I expected to blow me off to be honest, but like the other great companies that have thus far donated prizes they responded quickly and without hesitation. I’ve never reviewed a coffee before. I’m not a fancy guy and can’t talk about subtle notes of this or that. I can’t tell you about complexity or aromas. I can tell you that this is one hell of a smooth brew. I can definitely tell that it is a medium roast. The mild bitter tanginess does not overpower the flavor. To me I taste a sweet taste in the back of the mouth on this brew. To be honest I taste more to this coffee than any I’ve drank before. It has layers I’m still discovering. The more I drink the more I find in the flavor. Although I enjoyed the very first cup I enjoy each new cup more.

I tend to be a black coffee man and have drank most of the Double Tap that way. I had one cup with heavy cream and one with coconut milk. The heavy cream overpowered it and I lost the flavors. The coconut milk however complimented it very well. Although I think black is the way to go one this java.
