Is America Free

Is America Really Free?

I was listening to a Paul Wheaton Podcast recently about Sepp Holzer and how pissed he (Sepp) was about how other countries have much less litigation. In this podcast I found out that making ponds, and lakes, on your own land requires tons of permits from several departments. If you make one anyway they might see it on Google Earth and come make you sad. This blew me away, I could not believe there are laws about putting in a freaking pond. This got me doing a little researching on what freedoms other countries have that we do not. Mostly I came across a lot of idiots on forums that believe that “Free” Healthcare and Education is freedom. Not when you are being taxed to death to pay for those things. More laws never equal more freedom. I dismissed those morons but did manage to find some freedoms that we do not have. Let me share with you a few things that our neighbors can do that we can’t

The Slavery Of Debt And Lost Opportunities

I hate debt. A lot. I’ve always hated it though not as defined as I now know it. I don’t have much of it and that’s the way I like it. I’ve been thinking more and more about the little I do have and it’s become somewhat obsessive. I don’t like it and want it gone now. I’ve played with facts and figures on how long it will take to pay off and tried to figure ways to speed it up. I’ve racked my brain and laid awake at night have only hate it more. Today I’m going to talk about the evil of debt, missed opportunities and how to work out from under it.

What Really Matters

I was talking to a friend of mine recently and he was talking about how happy he is to have just paid off his home. He is in his early thirties and has a wife and two kids. Then he started to complain about work. His drive to work is over an hour each way. He puts $30 in gas in his tank twice a week. So he is spending at least $240 a month in gas to get to work. I know this because I started asking him a lot of questions. My mind was swimming with ideas of the freedom of not having to pay for shelter. I’ll share our conversation with you and some of my thoughts.

All about Tiny Houses

For the past few years I have become more and more obsessed with alternative house building techniques. I know I want to own a home and land but without all the debt. I do not want nor need a McMansion, I do fine with living in tiny spaces. For a summer a few years back me and my buddy Mike built two 10×10 sheds and I lived in them. I was perfectly comfortable and had everything I needed. One of the most interesting alternative houses is the Tiny house. They are built using traditional hose techniques, framing etc just much smaller. One the inside they have been optimized for getting the maximum  usage out of the tiny space. Today I’m going to talk all about tiny homes and share my love of them with you.

Disappearing in a Crowd

How To Be A Gray Man

What Got me thinking about this was some things I’ve seen recently. While practicing my situational awareness out and at work I’ve noticed a lot of people recently that stand out. Some call what I’ve seen mall ninjas but they definitely stand out. Looking  at them I could tell that they probably watch too much Doomsday Preppers. The clothes they were wearing scream survivalist and in some situations I feel that would be a hindrance. Not always though, going to the range, a prepper convention but not the grocery store. So lets get down to what is a gray man and how to be unnoticed.
