Paleo Nachos

I saw a recipe in a magazine at work that was for “Healthy” nachos. It was full of low fat this and that. It did have a unique twist. Instead of using tortilla chips it used bell peppers. I thought that  was genius. I decided to make some fully paleo ones. If you don’t have any issues with dairy these would be great with cheese. I’ve been eating a lof of Old Croc grass fed cheese. Much like real nachos add what you want to these. So how do you make paleo nachos and how do they taste? Join me in my much better lit kitchen.

Spotlight On Spam For Survival

images

Spam and Survival are synonymous with each other. The image of the tin  foil hat wearing survivalist eating spam right from the can pops in many of our heads when talking about this canned meat. It is often frowned upon as a horrible thing to eat. A cruel and unusual punishment. In the words of Crocodile Dundee “Taste like shit but it’ll keep you alive”. Spam has a undeserved reputation in my opinion. Today I’m going to talk all about spam for survival. Why you should include it, how to make it taste even better and why it’s not bad for you either. So let’s get into this spam.

Dehydrating Peppers

Today is a guest post from by oldset blogging friend DB from Florida Hilbilly with an article on dehydrating peppers. Thanks buddy and enjoy this one!

I like peppers, both sweet and hot. I have found a local green grocer, Rorabecks that sells a small sweet peppers that I like to put up for long term storage. And while they end up with a VERY long shelf life when put up this way, even this nine pound batch won’t last more than  a few months. But I’ll have peppers to use whenever I want without worrying about having to find some that are in season.

Hormel Compleats Bacon Breakfast Scramble Review

I’m sure all of you have seen the Hormel Compleats meals. Most big box stores have a whole section dedicated to them. Shelf stable ready to eat meals with a year shelf life. In the past I had bought some because I liked the concept. Having ready to eat food during a disaster is great and the meal options looked much better than MRE’s. For the most part though I just stored them and didn’t really eat them. They don’t fit in my paleo way of eating, many have either grains or legumes and all have ingredient lists a mile long. I have always said I would eat shit before death though so that’s why I store them. Also I would prefer to give them out before good food.  Now lets get down to the review.
