Today I’m going to do a review of My Escape Knife By Boker. It is a small 2 inch fixed blade knife. The metal on the knife is 420 stainless. It features micarta scales. It is a drop point blade design. Comes with a thick heavy leather sheath with a very strong clip on the back.
I got this knife for Christmas this past year. I knew when got this knife that it would become a neck knife and not ever be going into a pocket. The clip on the back is really strong so I just made a quick lanyard of 550 cord to wear it. I’ve only ever had it come off of the cord instead of out of the sheath once. Which is pretty impressive considering how tight a fit the sheath is.
This knife came very sharp from the factory, definitely shaving sharp. I have not yet had to re-sharpen it in 6 months. This knife I have not beaten up too badly either though. It’s mostly a package opener and rope cuter. Since I’ve seen them online for around $16 bucks I might pick up another to abuse the heck out of. I have problems breaking gifts on purpose.
As you can see from the picture the knife has a large hole in it. This is meant to improve grip I guess. I find it to be an annoyance. I find that holding it with a finger in the hole limits my knife agility. I prefer hold below or cup the back side of the blade. I would have preferred the handle go further up and have a choil instead of a hole.
Normally I’m a fan of micarta scales. But this thing has no texture. It is pretty slippery when dry and hard to get a grip on. When wet it seems to perform a lot better actually. This is where I suppose the hole in the blade is meant to come in. On the back side of the blade is some very nicely done jimping. It’s not overly aggressive but helps with grip considerable.
Now on to the Pro’s and Con’s
Pro’s
- Sharp. The knife comes sharp and stays that way
- Cheap! You can pick these up for less than $20
- Small and Lite.
Con’s
- Has big stupid hole in the handle.
- Handle scales are too slippery.
- Sheath is too bulky and heavy.
In closing it’s not a bad little neck knife. If you are more comfortable using smaller knives and like the finger hole you might really like this knife. For me the weight if the sheath combined with the awkwardness of the grip keep it from really being an EDC knife for me. Maybe with more testing I will become comfortable with it. Also I might make a much lighter sheath for it.

I might try this one out. The thing I usually gripe about with neck knives is the lack of scales. I have been considering the the Becker Necker for a while but the holes on that one are even bigger and stupider, I guess to save weight.
I had a knife exactly like this about two years ago had the stupid hole and a scale grip i went to my friends house and took some of his black para-cord and wrapped the handle with it. It not only completetly eliminated the slippery fresh leather like surface of the scales but if fit my hand much better and it looked like more of tactical weapon, rather than a show case knife. Eventually i also did a little wrapping around the top of the hole which acted as a rest for my index. Anyways i know u have some pc layin around try it out and see if u like it.
