Food storage is the backbone of being a prepper. Making sure that we have food to eat now and in tough times is one of the major factors that drives us to prep. I hear a lot of stupid nutrition myths that are wrong. Everyone you run into is a nutritionist these days. It doesn’t matter that they are 300+ pounds and have diabetes. One of the rules I live by is to never take advice from those less successful than you. If Rich Froning wants to tell me about nutrition I’m getting out my notebook. If, however, an obese guy is trying to tell me that bacon is bad for you, he can get lost.

For the most part, science is getting better at nutritional studies. In the past and probably still to this day numbers are fudged to suit agendas. The often quoted China Study is a prime example of these. Where the scientist just tossed out all the numbers that didn’t fit his model.

I missed out on reading the second Brushfire Plague Novel. The first one was a good read. As I talked about in that review. When asked if I wanted to review Brushfire Plague: Retribution (Amazon Link) I jumped at the opportunity. I even overcame my slow reading to get this out today. I’m sure authors and writers want to wring my neck at times. But I did finish it and let’s see what I think about it.

So what’s all this about? Well, you can snatch up a copy of the First novel for .99 cents right now. Or you could also read my review on the first novel. Basically, A virus spreads and kills about 20% of the population. The novel shows the virus spread and the damage it causes.

The main character Cooper Adams loose his wife in the first novel and have to survive in this news world with his son and best friend. Gangs run wild and there are constant fights for them vying for power. The government is in shambles.

How To Build A DIY Ballistics Plate Body Armor

Today I have not one but two youtube videos for you. You get a DIY build video on How To Build A DIY Ballistics Plate Body Armor and then the test shooting of that DIY ballistics plate.

I really want a real body armor plate. I also want to shoot the hell out of one. There in lies my problem. If I had a ballistics plate, like the great guys at AR500 (hint hint) I would want it for a SHTF scenario. But I also want to try to destroy one as well.

DIY 2 Survive!

My solution is to build and show you How To Build A DIY Ballistics Plate Body Armor. Will it be as good as a professionally made one? Nope. Will it stop a bullet? Hell yes, it will! I don’t recommend you building one of these and going out to fight ISIS. In a SHTF I would wear one of my DIY ballistic plates over wearing nothing.

The cost for this was around $30. I used a steel I-beam piece, a ceramic floor tile, duck tape and a can of plastidip. This thing is heavy as shit. And tough as a hell.
