Last night at work I was playing on the Survivalpunk twitter account and saw a link to an article that looked interesting. The article was Saving mad money on car insurance! I’m a big fan of saving money so I greedily read this article. The article was short and sweet, very direct and full of tips. I’ve read this guys blog o occasion but after this I’m going to dig into it. I’m a cheap guy and I am working on becoming even cheaper. Let me share with you how I shaved $948 annually on my car insurance.

Itsumo Ahi Tuna Jerky
I have a review today of three different flavors of Itsumo Ahi Tuna Jerky. Itsumo hand line catches all it’s tuna. They use only Japanese Sashimi grade ahi tuna. Yellowfin tuna is the kind of tuna. The Spiced and Sweet both have fairly minimal ingredients. The paleo jerky though is truly minimal. The paleo jerky nine ingredients and all are paleo approved.
Cooking on A Log: Failure
I’m sure many of you have seen this picture floating around the web. A log burning with a cast iron skillet cooking on top. Yeah I’ve liked that picture on Facebook. I though the idea was pretty sweet. It had a primitive feel that I liked. In the picture though they use a chainsaw. Definitely not primitive. I don’t know about you but I don’t often carry chainsaws into the woods with me. In fact due to my left handed paranoia I avoid them. So I set off on a hike yesterday to see if I could reproduce the results with items I normally carry in my pack. Here are the results.
Special Announcement: Gun Training With The Non-aggression Principle giveaway
Yesterday I did a review of Gun Training With The Non-aggression Principle, vol 1. Well the director Michael W Dean said he wants to give away a copy to you guys (and ladies) . If you read yesterdays article about it then you know that I highly recommend it. You should have already ordered it in fact. It’s only $20 on amazon so you have no reason not to. Well except I’m about to give one away. I’ll just use the same rules as I did last month. Be a subscriber of the blog. It’s here if you’ve not done so. Leave a comment on this blog post. I’ll run the contest till Saturday (10/5/2012) at 9am CST. Be prepared to check this post at that time and email me your shipping info so I can shoot that over and get your DVD out. Thanks and good luck.
Show review: Revolution
I don’t watch a lot of TV and what I do is on either Netflix or Hulu. A while back a friend of mine, knowing my love of post apocalyptic fiction, told me about this show. The plot summary for Revolution via IMDB is:
“Our entire way of life depends on electricity. So what would happen if it just stopped working? Well, one day, like a switch turned off, the world is suddenly thrust back into the dark ages. Planes fall from the sky, hospitals shut down, and communication is impossible. And without any modern technology, who can tell us why? Now, 15 years later, life is back to what it once was long before the industrial revolution: families living in quiet cul-de-sacs, and when the sun goes down lanterns and candles are lit. Life is slower and sweeter. Or is it? On the fringes of small farming communities, danger lurks. And a young woman’s life is dramatically changed when a local militia arrives and kills her father, who mysteriously – and unbeknownst to her – had something to do with the blackout. This brutal encounter sets her and two unlikely companions off on a daring coming-of-age journey to find answers about the past in the hopes of reclaiming the future.”
The show airs on NBC on Mondays at 10/9c and the next day on Hulu.
