I had a fan and good friend ask recently If I knew a recipe for paleo donuts. According to him the fate of the universe hinged on the easiest paleo donuts I could make. Since all my stuff is in this universe I needed to save it. I thought about it for a bit and did a little google-fu. In the end, my recipe had to change last minute.

I was going to make yeast donuts, which are the best, but had to scrap that. Yeast needs sugar for it to eat and make bubbles. I didn’t want any sugar in this recipe. So I made a cake type drop donut. The batter being much too loose for traditional donuts.

I based the easiest paleo donuts on my paleo bread recipe. It being the easiest paleo bread recipe.

Situational Awareness

I realized I haven’t written about situational awareness in depth since back in 2012. I know from my day to day activities that surprisingly everyone in the world has not read that article and mastered it. In fact, a shit ton of people is still completely oblivious to their surroundings. They have no clue what’s going on around them.

I have a hard time even imaging how people are so out of touch. I was born with a well-developed situational awareness. Guess it makes up for my complete lack of mathematical skills.

So before we dig into it I guess I need to define it for those of you that don’t know what situational awareness is.

Situational awareness is the perception of environmental elements with respect to time and/or space, the comprehension of their meaning, and the projection of their status after some variable has changed, such as time.

It’s knowing where you are and what’s going on around you.

This week we talk about how to survive a riot. With the recent riot in Charlotte, NC I felt it was time to cover this topic. Riots are becoming more and more common and I want all of you to be safe. Mike and I cover our top tips on how to improve your survivability in a riot.

Most of the tips are pretty common sense.(Even though I hate the term common sense.) You have to train these philosophies not just hope you will remember them. How many times have you seen someone say they knew better, then did something stupid. Us men are notorious for that.

You can practice being a grey man in your daily life. It is the exact opposite of the pickup artists peacock principle. You want to blend into a crowd. The eyes of strangers should just pass right over you.

The great folks over at Prepare Wise sent me some Legacy Premium long term meals for review. The two meals sent to me are the old fashioned pancake mix and enchilada beans and rice. Neither were tested in this first video. I filmed on a Monday and can’t eat any of that till Saturday. That’s my cheat day.

I like that both of the meals sent to me are GMO-free. The stuff you get from mountain house are pretty much a toxic storm.

These meals have high ratings on flavor. They were voted best tasting with 4 out of 5 people preferring them.

Prepare Wise also offers free shipping on all orders. And With bulk long term food that can get costly. They also have the cheapest price per pound on long term foods. So the average is $7.75 per pound. Compare that to Wise Foods at $12.54 per pound.

I am highly interested in their gluten free options. And It’s hard to find good gluten free options that are affordable. I may not be celiac but I know I feel and perform much better without gluten. In a disaster where I need to be on my A-game. So why do something to hinder myself?

Today’s infographic Monday I have one from The Tiny Life Blog on tiny houses. They spent several hundred hours crunching data on tiny houses to come up with an infographic.

More Tiny House People Are Mortgage Free

I want to break out a few numbers to discuss. 68% of tiny house people over 29.3 % of all us homeowners have no mortgage. More than half of us tiny house dwellers do not pay rent or a mortgage. That is a huge difference. More than double. The freedom you gain without paying a mortgage is amazing. For many, it can free you up to not work a job you hate. You can work a job you love or work fewer hours so you can spend more time with your loved ones.

No Debt

I love this statistic. 89% of those that live in a tiny house have less credit card debt than average American’s. 65% of us, myself included, have zero credit card debt. If you believe like me that debt is slavery then this should give you hope. Many are realizing they have been fed a lie and escaping. The trend of getting a bigger and bigger house all the while drowning in debt is dying.

Not Just The Young

If you think that just us youngsters are building tiny houses the giving the system the finger you are wrong. 2 out of 5 tiny house owners are over 50 years old. That comes out to 38% of tiny house people. The 40~50-year-old group has the lowest percentage with only 18%. So it would seem the older and wiser you get the more you realize the need to beat the system with a tiny house.
