12 Preps You Can Do For National Preparedness Month 2016
Are you ready for National Preparedness Month 2016? I feel like this should be read by a Monster Truck commercial guy. You know the ones where they repeat the day like three times. National Preparedness Month 2016 is coming to your arena this SUNDAY SUNDAY SUNDAY!!!
That’s how I feel about it anyway. While we should prepare all the time. But September is special. Sure it’s great that the government actually gives reasonable recommendations on their Ready.gov Site. And even though I am very libertarian leaning. To the point of anarchy. I will admit when they do something I like. Telling Americans to get a kit and make a plan is worthy of a crisp high five.
For us preppers, though this is like a month long holiday. It is OUR month! It gives me the fizzies in my stomach. I love it. Since it is so important of a month I like to use it as a time marker. What I mean by that is I schedule certain things periodically. Things like checking your food
Things like checking your food preps for expiration dates. I like to check the dates twice a year. Fall and Spring. So for the fall one, I will plan it during National Preparedness Month. I won’t even go into the expiration date myth. I mostly check for physical signs of damage or swelling of the cans.

National Preparedness Month
National Preparedness month created by FEMA to spread personal preparedness. To me it’s a month-long celebration of being a prepper. It’s also a great time to take stock of what you have and what you are lacking. Many things need yearly inspections. Checking your food preps for out of dates. Ensuring your car is winter ready. Bug Out Bags need are customized for the season. For all the things you need to check once a year I like to do it in September for National Preparedness Month. The wild edible of the week is Crowberry. Five of Diamonds, Wind and berms is the permaculture minute of the week from the Permaculture Playing Cards from Paul Wheaton.

National Preparedness Month
September is National Preparedness Month as declared by FEMA. I’ll take it anyway. It’s like a month long celebration to being a prepper. They make a big push to get America more prepared. When the gov does something good even an anarchist like me will admit it. Anyone spreading the message of preparedness is good with me. For those just getting into prepping they have a lot of resource at their Ready.gov site. I have my own way of celebrating it. Sorry I won’t be recreating my previous years month long giveaway. Well I do have a few things so keep your eyes out. No for me National Preparedness Month means taking stock of things.
