Mike gets interviews on Prepper Recon. James gets injured at crossfit. Meeting Mountain From the Primal Professional. The guys talk about Congress moving to end the prohibition of raw milk. What Steps do preppers overlook? The main topic of the day is on Apocalyptic fiction and lessons learned from them. Punk Gadget of the week is the Buck Hoodlum. Nutrition Punk of the day is Gluten free is a lifestyle not a product. The permaculture minute is Fungi. The wild edible of the week is sassafras.

 

Even though I am a self proclaimed anarchist I give props where there are deserved. This week I get to congratulate the gov on finally trying to remove raw milk Prohibition. It’s a ignorant law that doesn’t need to be there. I understand and accept any risk in the foods I eat.

This week James and Mike discuss some of their favorite apocalyptic movies. Not surprisingly zombies eat up the majority of the list. We talk about what is good about the movies. What’s bad in them. We also cover what lessons if any are to be had in them. Apocalyptic fiction is what lured me down the rabbit hole of survival. I like the way your mind goes to what would you do in those situations. How would you handle the threats. Some movies in the apocalyptic fiction world teach better than others. In the end James and Mike wholeheartedly disagree on the last movie. I hate the movie as an abomination. Mike thinks it’s a great movie. Who’s right?

I was recently interviewed on the PrepperRecon Podcast. I push my campaign of fitness once again. We talk about getting in shape. The paleo diet basics. I talk about my crossfit experiences. What are benefits to crossfit beyond the exercise? We share stories of sobriety. Prepperrecon has been sober for 10 years and James 11 months. Why would being drunk be a problem during a collapse? We talk about how much easier life is when your fit. How will fitness apply during a collapse? While talking about health we bring up healthy relationships. Freeing yourself from toxic relations to improve your mental health. If you are being held back by someone you have to let them go. What does a paleo prepper store? James tells you what you can store to build your healthy food preps. Be surprised that it isn’t much different from what your store. We talk about some threats to watch out for. The mob mentality of some to burn and destroy cities. We had a great time chatting with Mark from Prepperrecon so have a listen.

Crossfit: Take The Plunge, Join The Cult

I had a reader email me and ask for my advice on Joining a Crossfit gym. He had some worries about it though. I shot him an email back with some quick advice. I told him I would write an article to elaborate on it. I’m sure from all my talking many of you are considering joining a box as well. Box is crossfit slang for the gym. If you are considering it then you have probably looked around. I googled and watched Youtube Videos on it. I came across the fictional character Pukie The Clown. Puking is no stranger to crossfit. Hell I have puked a few times. Maybe three. It happens and you move on. So let’s get into some of my thoughts on drinking the Crossfit kool aid.

Another Mikes guest invite paid off. Glent Tate author of the 299 Days books emailed me about being on the show. He liked my review of the books so much be wanted on. Also as It turns out we have something else in common. Glen drank from the kool aid and joined the cult of crossfit. We both are of the mind that physical fitness is one of the most important preps. I’ll take any chance to spread the word on getting in shape. We do talk about the books a good bit though. I got my co host Mike hooked on the books before this podcast. Mike really got into the swing of things and asked some hard hitting questions.  This will be different from any interview with Glen Tate you’ve heard. He all had a great time and covered some important info.We hear about the upcoming audio versions.  Glen Tates 299 Days books are the best prepper fiction out there. Go check them out.

 Today I just want to share with you an interview I did recently. I was interviewed by Kyle of Rational Survival. I had a great time chatting with Kyle. He is also big into crossfit like me. We talked about the importance of fitness and nutrition in the survival community. Why Paleo is best for rational survival. Kyle had some questions about paleo. He was overthinking it like many others. You don’t need to fully understand something to do it. Follow the rules and see how you feel.

I give him a few tips on cheap and easy paleo meals to make. Not every meal has to be expensive. I make meat go further by eating smaller portions of it. I bulk out my meals with leafy greens cooked in fat. I believe in rational survival and part of that is budgeting.

We have a good laugh about how bad out first Crossfit workout was. Kyle was prior service military. After he got out he let his fitness slip. Hell it happens to the best of us. He knew from a rational survival standpoint he knew he needed to get back in shape. Crossfit hands down is the most effective way to increase your fitness. We also talk about our worst workouts. Mine was doing two hard wods in back to back. And my back hated me for it. We also talk about the great community to be found at Crossfit. If you find a good box, gym, you will love it. You will make great friends there that you will not find on the treadmill.

Kyle is a much more prolific podcaster than I. How he pumps out that many great podcast for rational survival I don’t know. I’ve done back to back podcasts  and it’s hard work. He’s running a contest right now as well to win 5 ounces of silver. So stop by and check him out.
