Today’s post is a bit of my philosophy mixed in with a bit or ranting on a couple of idiots in the prepper community making us all look bad. I come across a lot of people in the prepper/ survivalist industry are trying to sale their products using fear. Fear mongering pisses me off. Taking advantage of people to make a buck is plain wrong. I had this article planned already but with something I read today I have a bit more to say. Today is all about Fear, having fear push you into bad decisions and those that use it on you. Don’t be scarred today we’re facing the fear.

I’m a big fan of the novel Dune by Frank Herbert. In the book there was a group of women who had this saying I quoted. On the surface it just seems like a neat little saying. I’ve come to think of it as much more. I feel it belongs with the golden rule of treating people good. It means to face your fears, let it happen, analysis it and move on. The more I think about it the more it rings as a universal truth. I told this to a friend of mine and the first thing he said was what about jumping off a bridge or something. Facing death without reason is plain stupid. However in our modern life we do not face the lion hiding in the bush often. The fears we face now is standing up to a boss, talking to the opposite sex, Leaving jobs you hate and buying pallets of freeze dried food. Men’s minds are logical and work best that way, but when clouded by fear decisions break down and are made from a place of fear and not facts. These are the fears that must be faced.
Fear Mongering
I will never bullshit you and lie to you to sale anything. I will never use fear to get my point across. I came across a post earlier on how the truckers were going to go on strike shutting down America. Well the guy that posted it is pretty full of shit so I hit Google for some proof. I found a few other blog posts on this strike, reputable sites of course like Alex Jones…But nothing by the major news companies. If this thing had any hope it would be all over the news. Adam Kokesh’s failed attempt to march on Washington had serious news coverage. This story seems to be coming from a Facebook fanpage. The page has some 30 thousand likes. I can only imagine a small percent of those are truck drivers. I have no doubt that trucks will still be rolling to my store during that time. This whole thing comes across as hype. Hell I wish they would stop driving for three days. I would not even notice it. The majority of people wouldn’t.
I decided to read the article and sure enough it was just to sale a product at the end of an even bigger fear monger. Don’t let these ass clowns trick you into a stupid product. If you are worried go grab a few extra things from the store. I’m not getting anything extra for this. Don’t believe everything you read and especially less so if there’s a product being sold. Great post, and timely too! I find myself quoting this to my wife. Sometimes we each need a little encouragement to remember that fear-mongering is BS marketing. We alone are responsible for the consequences of our decisions/actions.
There have been talks of trucker strikes since the 90’s or probably even before that. The accepted problem is that there isn’t enough unity due to either greed or desperation and it wouldn’t work.
